Nanaimo White Rapids Swim Club

Swim families,

We are pleased to announce our Summer 2015 Head Coach and Associate Head Coach.

Gareth Saunders is returning to become our Head Coach/Director of Swimming next summer. He has finished his Kinesiology Degree from UBC and is currently completing his Teaching degree at UVIC. He has swum competitively for UBC and continues to swim, run and bike. Gareth will be working with the club in the off-season with our Splash and Dashes and other training initiatives including Winter Maintenance. He is also the Vancouver Island Regional Coach for the 2015 swim season. Gareth has gleaned experiences with other clubs and his efficiency, technical expertise, organizational skills and overall passion for swimming will make him an asset for our club.

Byron Trajan is also returning as an Associate Head Coach who will be working with our swimmers in Fall/Winter Maintenance as well as the Splash and Dash and off-season events. His enthusiasm, technical experience and dedication to each and every swimmer make him a vital part of the Nanaimo White Rapids coaching team. Byron is an accomplished Triathlete and he is currently competing in Edmonton at the Canadian Triathlon championships.

We thank Michelle Lorusso, our co-head coach for 2014 for her excellent leadership and commitment to our swimmers this summer. We wish her well as she finishes her teaching degree at VIU and seeks a teaching position.
